PACS Transportation Program
Providing Transportation for the following Kentucky Counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd and Trigg Twana Johnson, Director BELOW ARE THE 5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED BY PACS 1. HUMAN SERVICES TRANSPORATION & DELIVERY PACS is proud that we have been awarded the Human Service Transportation Broker for Region 02 every year since 1999. We continue in our thirty years plus of service as a provider of quality transportation to the Medicaid eligible population of the Pennyrile. It is our dedicated Transportation Staff of aging coordinators, managers, in-take operators, dispatchers, monitors and drivers that make this a successful program. The phone number to call and request Medicaid Transportation is (1)800-467-4601. Request for Medicaid Transportation must be made 72 hours in advance, except for Urgent (non-emergency) needs. An operator at this number will be able to help determine the passenger/ride eligibility. There is no charge to the passenger for a Medicaid ride. 2. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PACS is the only Public Transportation Provider in many of our nine counties. To obtain a ride on the PACS vehicle Monday through Friday on public transportation, a person needs to call at least 24 hours ahead. RATES FOR PUBLIC IN- COUNTY NON-MEDICAID RIDES (-60YRS) The following is the rate chart for one-way, non-elderly/non-Medicaid rides within a resident’s own County. 1. $2.00 Inside or within 5.4 mile radius of the County Senior Center or Transportation Office from where trip originates ($4.00 round trip) 2. $4.00 When 5.5 miles or over radius of the County Senior Center or Transportation Office from where trip originates ($8.00 round trip) RATES FOR OUT OF COUNTY, NON-MEDICAID RIDES (ALL AGES) All the following is based on mileage from the County Senior Center or local Transportation Office. These rides/rates will be available only when riding along with a Medicaid rider. 1. Up to 10 miles --- $4.00 each way (transported with a M/C rider) 2. 0-30 miles------ $5.00 each way (transported with a M/C rider) 3. 31-50 miles-------- $8.00 each way (transported with a M/C rider) 4. 51-and over miles ---$10.00 each way (transported with a M/C rider) **All Out of County Rides without Medicaid Rider is $.50 per mile_ SUGGESTED DONATION FOR IN COUNTY ELDERLY (+60YRS) NON-MEDICAID RIDES-----$1.00 PER RIDE 3. JARC TRANSPORTATION JARC Transportation stands for Jobs and Reverse Commute Transportation. It is a program designed to provide transportation to and from work. Presently JARC only serves Christian and Muhlenberg Counties Monday through Friday. To request transportation to/from work, a person should call the above Muhlenberg County numbers. In Christian County the phone number is (270)886-7449. The cost for JARC transportation is the same rate as the public cost. 4. NEW FREEDOM TRANSPORTATION New Freedom Transportation serves Hopkins County. It is a program designed to offer expanded transportation to the elderly and disabled population Monday through Friday. To request a ride in Hopkins County call (270)821-3232. The cost of a ride under this program is free to 60 years of age and older. Those 59 years or younger can follow the chart above for Public Transportation. 5. ELDERLY TRANSPORTATION PACS provides transportation to the 60+ population in all our nine counties. This service is provided under the Title III grant program. Even though there is no charge for this service to those eligible by documented age, a donation is encouraged. Seniors can receive a ride under this program Monday through Friday by calling at least 24 hours ahead to the number listed below. Elderly requesting free transportation will be required to provide information and complete a one- time form for the person arranging the ride in their county. The following rules apply to all passengers
- Pay the correct fare (if applicable) when boarding
- Respect others at all times
- No profane or vulgar language on PACS property
- Do not defecate, urinate, or release other body fluids on the bus
- Do not abuse, threaten or attack other passengers or the bus operator
- Do not board bus under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Do not engage in lewd or offensive conduct or indecent exposure
- Do not place anything on the floor that may roll or move when unattended
- Properly controlled “service animals” accompanying disabled persons are the only animals permitted
- Prohibited items include, but not limited to: Guns, Hazardous Materials, Explosives, Knives, and Dangerous Liquids
- No smoking, drinking or eating in PACS vehicles
- All passengers are required to abide by applicable safety belt regulations
- Please remain seated until the bus comes to a complete halt
- All passengers must be fully clothed, including shirts and shoes
